Fitting Guidelines UK
A detailed Fitting Guide can be downloaded in PDf format here

The fitting guidelines below detail the requirements for fitting the Spraydown Mudflap in accordance with BS AU 200.
Measurements detailed below should be based on a vehicle without load, with bodywork and in running order (including coolant, oils, fuel, tools, spare wheel and driver). For the tractor unit of an articulated vehicle, the trailer should be attached, for vehicles fitted with demountable body systems, and empty body shell should be attached.
In all cases the wheels should be in the straight ahead position with tyres in nominally new condition. Tyre breadth should be measured at the height of the wheel centre.
In the case of semi-trailers for articulated vehicles, the load platform should be horizontal.
The fitting guidelines are detailed below for both Mudguard and Flap configurations as well as Valance and Flap Configurations.
Mudguard and Flap Configurations
- The mudflap (dimension X+ or Y+) should be of sufficient width to cover the total tyre breadth (dimension X or Y) except where the flap is contained inside the mudguard when it shall cover the breadth of the tyre tread
- The mudflap should not be more than 300mm from the rear of the tyre.
- The bottom of the mudflap should not be more than 200mm from the ground, although this can be increased to 300mm for the rearmost flap on a RoRo trailer.
- The mudflap should be installed in the mudguard with the top 100mm above the centreline of the tyre.
- Additional mudflaps need to be installed on multiaxle vehicles if the distance between the tyres exceeds 250mm.
- The leading edge of a mudguard should not exceed 20° above the centreline of the tyre for nonsteered wheels and 30° for steered wheels.
